Climbing Hold Prototypes

As some of you already know, I have been actively carving climbing hold prototypes for Black Swan Holds out of Texas.  The owner has just moved everything into a new warehouse and anticipates releasing some of his many new climbing hold sets to the public very soon...stay tuned for updates regarding that.  As of right now, he has removed all of the newer sets from his website to prepare for a "new launching" for Black Swan Holds.

Here is a link to the first set I sent Black Swan late last fall:

Top Out or Tap Out Bouldering Comp

Big shout out to everyone who attended.  Congrats to Izzy and Luke for taking first place!  The energy levels were high and everyone seemed to be having a really good time.  Wouldn't have been possible without the relentless effort by Mr. Evan Race to strip down the old boulder problems, wash all of the grips, and then reset the entire free standing boulder...Good on ya Mate!

Quick Media Update for those that weren't able to attend, or a nice reminder to those that did at how sick the bouldering competition was.  Looking forward to many more of these in the near future!

On a side note, next week at this time I will have done my first Hueco Tanks boulder problems...sooo incredibly psyched!

Saturday January 7, 2012

I know it is hard to believe, especially after this brutally cold weekend...but just under 10 days ago, we had a sweet outdoor bouldering session at "The Reservoir" in Great Barrington Mass. on Saturday January 7th.    The air was crisp, the boulders were dry, and it seemed again like winter was never going to show up...

Don't get too down because of the recent cold spell, the forecast is calling for a steady increase in temperature and Saturday even looks like upper 40's and sunny down in New Paltz.  If it stays as predicted, we will get yet another quality outdoor bouldering session in Janurary!  Damn, who would have thought!

Fear not...Still climbing a bunch

So the amount of climbing has not changed this winter season.  The only difference is that we now are traveling on the weekends to climb wherever there is dry rock and preference always go to where there is no snow either, both a bonus this time of year!  After work sessions are now limited to home wall training sessions and climbing sessions at "The Edge" in Halfmoon NY...which by the way, if you haven't been yet, you are definately missing out on some serious fun!  Always a good atmosphere, tons on variation in the problems, and everyone is really psyched and always trying hard and pushing their own personal limits.

Under four weeks now until I head down to the infamous Hueco Tanks Texas with a few friends for what I am hoping will be an epic week long climbing rendevous!  Speaking of Hueco, this little fellow just had his first session of the 2012 season down there today...good on ya mate, we'll be there before you know it.

Warning:  These are classic photos, never before seen by the public.  Taken Labor Day 2010 at the Good Luck Lake trailhead.  We both sent "Push"- 5.12c that day, so psyched!

Style points for sure...man I miss the Subaru

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays...

To anyone who does actually read my blog, I appologize for not wishing you and a safe and happy holiday before I had a short leave from work (the office I work for completely closed down for the week in between Christmas and New Year's for a Christmas bonus for all of its' employees)...which was freakin SWEET!

I was able to sneak out and climb for a bit, especially later in the week when the seasonably WARM weather rolled in for the start of 2012.  The beginning of the week was plagued however with car trouble that kept me held up at home for Tuesday December 27 and Wednesday the 28th.  I spent those two days stripping my home climbing wall so I could rearrange all of my climbing holds as well as spending a few hours carving some new hold prototypes for Black Swan Holds out of Texas.  Thursday it was back to outdoor climbing and basically anything else I felt like doing since I had the week off.

No real New Year's resolutions this year...I feel like I have been pretty much on track and since the Hueco trip is fast approaching, my training has been pretty extensive.

Well good on ya' mates and here's a brief media update from the past week...
