Nine Corner Lake: Cave Wall Classics in the Summer

So, despite all of the bouldering guidebook work and the notheast's rain, heat and relentless humidity...I have been able to sneak out a couple of times to enjoy some pretty decent summer bouldering.  Usually this time of year I "switch gears" from a bouldering focus to do some rope climbing due in part to the poor climbing conditions, but this year with the guidebook, all of my projects for this fall are boulder problems so when I get a chance to get out, I still boulder in attempts to keep up my bouldering fitness.

A couple of weeks ago I had really good conditions for the end of June and was able to capitalize on it with a quality two hour session on the Cave Wall at Nine Corner Lake.  All of the problems except for Psycho-Killer were problems that I have done a bunch of times in the past, but it was refreshing to get on them again to see how my body/fitness level would hold up.  In the end, I was really happy with the performance.

Who else is still out there trying to send/crush this summer season?  I would love to hear some comments from everyone...

  1. Hey Jut I sure am. Just had a great session on Monday up at McKenzie Kirby was there with some other good friends bringing that super sike. I finally sent Flux then repeated it minutes later! I went straight up from the top right jugs to a left hand crimp on the triangle shaped face then bumped out left to the arete up high then came in right to the top then rounded the corner after standing up. Sent the Cure ,SMAC, the full traverse at the cave wall, Flux and repeated alot of others. Ticking off some long time projects with great people this session with more to go. I slipped two discs /bulging dics in my back in the winter. No fun no fun at all. But things are feeling gd now. Peace

    1. Kyle, thanks for the update. Sending long standing projects in the summer, that is crazy! Can't wait to see what you pull off this fall when the conditions are actually good! Nice work man

I totally understand the whole back debacle...i dealt with (4) bulging disks and a totally mis-diagnosis with my back issues until they finally figured the problem out. It only took 18 months of hell, 6 spinal injections, a back surgery, 24 hours in intensive care and a week long stay in the hospital for the doctors to realize that my back spasms were coming from a bleeding ulcer and I had dropped down to only 4 pints of blood in my system!!! Crazy life lesson, but like yourself...I am fully back in the climbing game!

      Happy climbing man

  3. It's Kirby. Just trying to get back in shape this season. I have a new sport project at crane, and a few boulder by the cliffs that need to be climbed. Hopefully I can hit them all before snow comes.
