Monday May 28, 2012: Otter Lake Cliff

Quick media update from a cliff I developed three years ago...Otter Lake Cliff in Caroga Lake NY.  We headed back in on Memorial Day to try and get some of the weekend's toxins out of the body...I think it worked for the most part.  Even more exciting is the fact that we cleaned some new routes...

  1. I'm visiting family out there in October. I was looking to do some climbing in the Dacks, but unfortunately can't lug my rack out there. According to mountain project this is a nice little sport crag. Is this true? I see you guys pluggin a bunch of gear in the pics. Should I bring a small rack just in case?

    Thanks!

    1. Coury, Otter Lake is 90% sport. There are 14 routes, 12 of them equipped for sport climbing. A few climbs do require some nuts/small cams in addition to the fixed hardware. Give a shout when you're in the area, i'm sure someone would be willing to show off the cliff!

    2. Sweet, I'll bring a small rack just in case then. They all have fixed anchors I'm assuming as well?

      Thanks!

  2. Fixed anchors on all of the routes. Each are easily accessible from the top as well if you wanted to set up some top ropes.
