Which Picture of Thorazine for the Guidebook?

Looking for some of the climbing communities feedback/input....

Here are a handful of photos of the boulder problem, Thorazine -V8 at Nine Corner Lake in Caroga Lake, New York.  My question is which of the three images does the most justice for the problem.  And for those of you who have not yet met this Adirondack stone crusher, this is Andrew Cieply (aka Freak of Strength) out of the Utica/Western NY region and a long time Adirondack Bouldering fixture and all around great guy!  If you happen to cross paths, say hi, share a bouldering story or two and definitely offer up a crash pad or spot if time allows.  You will not be disappointed!!!

  1. I like picture 2 and 3 but if I had to only choose one of them, I would choose pic 3. It has better lighting of climbing plus it shows better steepness of the top of the boulder. I can't wait to check it out!

    1. Mike-

Thanks for the vote buddy! It is great to get some input from someone who hasn't seen or been on the problem yet! Where the heck are all of my local boys to chime in???

I too am drawn to picture 3 for similar reasons to what you have mentioned,

Thanks again Mike and happy climbing/crushing dude!

  2. I would say picture 3 but I feel like I have seen a couple better fall / spring pics through your site.

  3. I say pic three as well it gives you the angle of the boulder by Thorazine ect. and a better perspective of the height of Spores.
Jut I have a question regarding the problems on the back side of this boulder. I have never seen them climbed nor any vids of them being sent. I looked at them the other day and want to do pit fight. But am not sure exactly where it goes. The older guide is not clear in my opinion as to the exact path of this or the other problem there either. The pit looks a bit sketchy but once you get in it and some pads are placed it is good to go. Thanks

    1. Picture #3 it is...thanks for all of the comments and feedback!

Kyle- in regards to Pit Fight. Start with hands matched on the obvious "V"-notched jug at about chest-height in the boulder pit and climb straight up the face on small incuts and the thin horizontal seams. The climb is pretty well protected with a couple of pads. Have fun on it man!

  4. I like picture 2 myself. I think that it shows more of the face and while it doesn't showcase the steepness as much as 3 does, I think it gives a better overall picture of the boulder.

  5. Thanks for the shoutout and kind words, dude! I don't think 1 does justice to that boulder. In my opinion 2 and 3 look the nicest (and I think I agree with Chris that 2 looks the best).

I'm so amped for this book to come out, and for the fall season to arrive! 2015 is gonna be a breakthrough year and a LOT of fun. See you guys out there!

  6. I also like 2 as people may want to look at the face as well just for their information. I'm very looking forward to the book. - Kenta
