I know that both Kippy from (adkbouldering.blogspot.com) and JP from (weekendbouldering.blogspot.com) have visited Gull Pond in Schroon Lake, New York but has anyone else done any exploring of these boulders? It looks extremely promosing from the aerial images that i've found and some online photographs as well. I'd really like to know if there is potential for some classic boulder problems in this beautiful Adirondack Lake settting.

ReplyDeleteYea boss ill give it hell for sure!
ReplyDeleteI visited with Kippy and have not returned... We climbed one problem that day and then I scooted out. There are a few problems but not much worthwhile - the setting and swimming are nice

from what I remember, there were a few (2-5) noticeable (obvious) lines. There could be more with some dedicated cleaning efforts. The short, flat hike in makes it really appealing. But the rock quality isn't exceptional.
ReplyDeleteHey guys, thanks for all of the comments. I am under the impression that if the approach is easy, there are climbable boulders, the area is on state land and there is awesome camping and simming opportunites than this is an area that should recieve some attention and be included in the upcoming bouldering guidebook. I plan on making some scouting trips out there this fall to confirm. Thanks,
